Indonesian citizen, born in Jambi on December 30, 1943, has served as a Corporate Advisor since June 30, 2021.

Obtained his Bachelor of Economics degree majoring in Faculty of Economics, Gajah Mada University Yogyakarta (1969) and Master of Arts in Economics from Duke University, Durham, North Carolina, USA (1975).

Throughout his career, he held strategic positions, as Chairman of the Capital Market Implementing Agency of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia (1988–1990), Chairman of the Capital Market Supervisory Board of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia (1990–1991), Head of the Financial Education and Training Agency, Ministry of Finance (1991–1995), Head of Financial and Monetary Analysis Agency of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia (1995–1998), Member of the People's Consultative Assembly of the Republic of Indonesia (MPR-RI) (1997–1998), Secretary of the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises/Deputy for Administration of state-owned enterprises (1998), Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, (1998), Minister of State for Investment / Head of Investment Coordinating Board (1999), Chairman of the Group Envoy Faction (1999–2001), Minister of Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia (2001)
